Chapter 24 - Part 2

“A Small Thank You”

The air still carried the softness of her song.

Silence returned… but it felt different now.

Lighter.

Adhirath stood there for a moment longer.

Then—

“I need to freshen up.”

Simple.

Back to his usual self.

Adhira nodded slightly.

“Hmm…”

He turned and walked toward his room.

And just like that—

The distance returned.

Adhira’s Thoughts

She sat there for a few seconds.

The guitar still resting in her lap.

Her gaze slowly drifted around the penthouse.

The quiet.

The emptiness.

Then her mind went back—

To everything.

The hospital.

His presence.

The way he didn’t leave.

This place.

The safety.

The way he said—

“You’re safer here.”

A soft breath escaped her.

“He’s doing so much…”

She murmured to herself.

“And I’m just…”

A pause.

“Staying.”

Her fingers tightened slightly on the guitar.

“I can at least do something…”

A small thought formed.

Simple.

Genuine.

“I’ll make dinner.”

Not because she had to.

Not because he asked.

But because—

She wanted to.

Kitchen – A Different Warmth

The kitchen felt… untouched.

Like no one really used it.

Adhira stepped in slowly.

Looking around.

“Let’s see what we have…”

She opened cabinets.

Minimal stuff.

Organized.

Too organized.

A small smile appeared.

“Of course… this is how he would keep it.”

She started simple.

Nothing fancy.

Cutting vegetables carefully.

Still a little weak—

But determined.

Every small movement felt… meaningful.

Because for the first time—

She wasn’t just being protected.

She was giving something back.

Parallel – His Side

Inside his room—

Water running.

Adhirath stood under the shower.

Eyes closed.

The day flashing through his mind.

Violence.

Blood.

Voices.

Then—

A shift.

Her voice.

🎶 “Haan hasi ban gaye…” 🎶

His jaw relaxed slightly.

The chaos faded.

Replaced by something… quieter.

She was safe.

That was enough.

Back to Kitchen

The faint sound of utensils filled the space.

Soft.

Domestic.

Unfamiliar to this penthouse.

Adhira placed the plates carefully.

A simple dinner.

But made with care.

She looked at it.

A little unsure.

“Hope he eats this…”

A small nervous smile.

He Returns

Footsteps.

Adhira looked up instantly.

Adhirath walked out.

Fresh.

Composed.

Same as always.

But then—

He stopped.

His gaze shifted toward the dining area.

The food.

The setup.

A slight pause.

“What is this?”

Not harsh.

Just… unexpected.

Adhira stood up quickly.

“I just thought… you might be hungry.”

A small hesitation.

“So I made something.”

Silence.

For a second—

He just looked at her.

As if processing something unfamiliar.

No one did this for him.

Not here.

Not in this space.

“I know it’s nothing much, but—”

He walked closer.

Cutting her off.

“Sit.”

She blinked.

Confused.

“You’re still recovering.”

Simple.

But it carried something else.

Care.

She slowly sat.

He took the other seat.

Looked at the food.

Then at her.

A brief pause.

And then—

He started eating.

No reaction.

But he didn’t stop.

And that was enough.

Adhira watched quietly.

A small smile forming.

Because she understood.

This was his way.

Ending Beat

The penthouse—

That once felt empty—

Now held something new.

Two people.

Sitting across each other.

Sharing silence.

Sharing space.

Sharing something they hadn’t named yet.

And for the first time—

That space felt…i

“The One Place No One Enters”

After Dinner – Night Settles In

The penthouse was quiet again.

Soft lights. City glowing outside.

Adhira sat in her room, phone in hand.

A soft smile on her face.

“Arre haan, I’m fine yaar…” she whispered to her friend.

“Haan bas thoda rest… aur—”

She paused.

Glancing around the room.

“Nahi, main hostel mein nahi hoon abhi…”

A small hesitation.

“Baad mein bataungi.”

Meanwhile—

Living Room

Adhirath sat on the couch.

Laptop open.

Face lit by the screen.

Focused.

Back to his world.

Files. Calls. Messages.

Everything under control.

Until—

Click.

The main door opened.

Adhirath didn’t even look up.

“Tumhare paas key kab se aa gayi?”

A familiar voice echoed—

“Jab se tu boring ho gaya hai.”

A smirk.

Confident steps.

Vihan.

He walked in casually.

Looking around like he owned the place.

“Bhai, tujhe milne ke liye appointment lena padta hai ab—”

He stopped mid-sentence.

His eyes narrowed slightly.

“…wait.”

He sniffed the air dramatically.

“Yeh kya hai?”

Adhirath didn’t react.

“Khane ki smell…?”

A pause.

Then slowly—

A grin spread across Vihan’s face.

“Tu… ghar pe khana bana raha hai?”

Still no response.

Now he was enjoying it.

“Ya phir…” he leaned forward slightly, teasing tone deepening,

“…kisi ne banaya hai?”

Adhirath finally looked up.

One sharp glance.

“Kaam bol.”

But that was enough for Vihan.

He knew something was off.

“Tu kuch chhupa raha hai…”

He smirked.

And just then—

The Moment

A door opened softly.

Adhira stepped out.

Still on call.

“Haan, main baad mein—”

She froze.

So did Vihan.

Silence.

Absolute silence.

Vihan blinked.

Once.

Twice.

His gaze shifted slowly from Adhira…

To Adhirath…

Then back to her.

“…main sapna dekh raha hoon kya?”

Adhira stood there, confused.

Phone still in her hand.

Adhirath’s expression?

Stone cold.

But his eyes—

Sharp.

Warning.

Vihan took a step forward.

Still processing.

“Yeh… kaun hai?”

No answer.

Another step.

“Adhirath.”

This time, serious.

“You brought… someone here?”

The emphasis.

Heavy.

Because he knew.

This place—

Was off limits.

To everyone.

Especially—

To any girl.

Adhira felt the tension instantly.

“I… I didn’t know someone was here, I’ll just—”

She turned slightly to go back—

“Ruko.”

Adhirath’s voice.

Firm.

She stopped.

Vihan’s eyes widened slightly.

Because this?

This was new.

Adhirath stood up slowly.

Closed his laptop.

Walked toward them.

His presence filled the space instantly.

“Vihan.”

Calm. Controlled.

“She stays here.”

That’s it.

No explanation.

No justification.

Just—

A fact.

Vihan let out a small breath.

Almost like a laugh.

“Wow…”

He ran a hand through his hair.

“Adhirath… jisne apni zindagi mein kisi ko is jagah ka address tak nahi diya…”

He looked at Adhira again.

Still stunned.

“…wo aaj kisi ko yahan rehne de raha hai?”

A teasing smile slowly returned.

“Interesting.”

Adhirath’s gaze hardened slightly.

“Bas.”

One word.

Warning clear.

Vihan raised his hands in mock surrender.

“Relax, relax… main kuch nahi bol raha.”

But his eyes?

Still full of questions.

And mischief.

He stepped closer to Adhira.

A little polite now.

“Hi… main Vihan.”

Adhira nodded slightly.

Still unsure.

“Adhira…”

“Nice name.”

He smiled.

Then leaned slightly toward Adhirath.

Lower voice.

“Bhai… tu toh gaya.”

Adhirath shot him a look.

Deadly.

But Vihan only smirked more.

“Best Friend Knows Too Much”

Living Room – Continued

Silence still lingered.

But not the heavy one anymore.

This one?

Awkward… and slightly chaotic.

Vihan looked between them again.

Then suddenly—

He clapped once.

“Okay, I like this already.”

Adhirath’s eyes narrowed.

“Vihan—”

“Relax yaar,” he smirked, dropping himself casually on the couch, “itna serious mat ho… guest hai.”

Adhirath didn’t reply.

But his gaze clearly said—

Careful.

Funny Start 😂

Vihan leaned toward Adhira again.

“Tumhe pata hai tum kahan reh rahi ho?”

Adhira blinked.

“…penthouse?”

He laughed.

“Nahi madam, yeh penthouse nahi hai—”

He pointed dramatically at Adhirath.

“Yeh is aadmi ka black hole hai.”

Adhira frowned slightly.

“Matlab?”

“Matlab jo bhi yahan aata hai, ya toh kabhi dikhta nahi… ya phir bahar jaake normal nahi rehta.”

A pause.

Then she looked at Adhirath.

“…scary.”

Vihan burst out laughing.

“See! Finally someone said it to his face!”

Adhirath gave him a look.

“Bas kar.”

Adhira’s Innocent Attack 😭

Adhira tilted her head slightly.

“Waise… aap yahan kaise aa gaye?”

Vihan grinned proudly.

“Main special hoon.”

Adhira nodded seriously.

“Hmm… lag bhi raha hai.”

A beat.

Vihan froze.

Adhirath looked away.

Subtly.

Because—

He was hiding a reaction.

Vihan pointed at her.

“Bhai… yeh mujhe insult kar rahi hai ya compliment?”

Adhira smiled softly.

“Depends… aapko kya laga?”

“Yeh ladki dangerous hai.”

Adhirath (low, almost to himself):

“Mujhe pata hai.”

Mini Chaos Moment 😂

Vihan suddenly stood up.

“Okay important question—”

He looked at Adhirath.

“Isne khana banaya?”

Adhirath didn’t answer.

That was answer enough.

Vihan gasped dramatically.

“NAHIII!”

He turned to Adhira.

“Tumne iske liye khana banaya??”

Adhira nodded slowly.

“Woh… bas aise hi…”

Vihan placed a hand on his chest.

“Humein bhi milta hai kya yeh privilege?”

Adhira laughed lightly.

“Bach gaya hai thoda…”

Before she could finish—

“Rehne do.”

Adhirath.

Immediate.

Both of them looked at him.

Vihan narrowed his eyes.

“Ohooo… possessive ho raha hai?”

Dead silence.

Adhirath’s stare = warning level max.

Vihan raised both hands.

“Okay sorry sorry… but noted.”

(smirk still there 😏)

Private Corner – Vihan & Adhirath

A few minutes later—

Adhira went back to her room.

The moment she left—

Vihan turned serious.

He leaned closer.

Voice low.

“Sach bata.”

No response.

“Kaun hai yeh?”

Adhirath’s jaw tightened slightly.

“Safe hai.”

Vihan blinked.

“That’s not what I asked.”

Silence.

Then—

Very quietly—

“She’s under my protection.”

Vihan watched him carefully.

“Sirf protection?”

No answer.

That was answer enough.

Vihan smirked slowly.

“Tu phas gaya hai.”

Adhirath’s eyes flicked toward him.

Cold.

“Control mein reh.”

Vihan chuckled.

“Main toh hoon… tu dekh apna.”

A pause.

Then softer—

More real.

“Tu kisi ko yahan nahi laata.”

No teasing now.

“Not even people you trust.”

A beat.

“And you brought her.”

Silence.

Adhirath didn’t respond.

But his gaze—

Drifted, unconsciously—

Toward her room.

And that was it.

Vihan saw everything he needed to.

Ending Beat

Vihan leaned back.

Smiling slightly.

“Interesting…”

Because for the first time—

Adhirath wasn’t just protecting someone.

He was keeping someone.

Close.

And that?

Changed everything
